The Science of Natural Skincare

Plants have many different vitamins, phytochemicals, minerals, and nutrients that can be extracted in a variety of ways. We use extraction methods tailored to bring out each nutrient in its most raw, bio-available form in our freshly curated small batch formulations. We do the research, the sourcing, and the curating for the perfect blend of nature’s ingredients.

Where we Source our Ingredients

We source our ingredients from non-gmo, wild harvested, or certified organic farms, distillers, harvesters, and suppliers whose products are certified cruelty free and have a GMP qualified certificate. They must comply with our high certification standards including no synthetic additives, contaminants, fillers, or any other unethical production practices. They must also provide us with a product quality analysis on every order to ensure the purity and safety of their ingredients.

Organic and Wild Harvested (Non-GMO)

Organic means that all plants used to produce an oil or extract are grown and processed at facilities certified by government agencies like the Department of Agriculture (USDA) via the National Organic Program (NOP) and are a certified handler of organic oils through the NOP. While Amōriq is not a certified organic company yet, due to the costly fees and laborious filling process, all our organic ingredients are sourced from companies with active certifications.

When organic is not available, we source plants foraged from their natural habitat that grow without human intervention, so they are not treated with any pesticides or chemicals and are non-GMO. Called wild harvested ingredients, they are sourced from undisturbed meadows and forests with rich dense terrain, so there is no way to certify them as organic; however, wild harvested plants are generally more nutrient-dense than their commercially farmed counterparts that come from depleted soil and are often fed with isolated nutrients. You can see the difference in the lighter colors, weaker stems, and thinner leaves of the farmed plants compared to the rich, colorful, and dense of wild harvested counterparts.

Organic and Wild Harvested (Non-GMO) Carrier Oils

Our carefully selected carrier oils are minimally processed using a technique that uses pressure and low-temperature to extract oil without damaging all precious phytonutrients. Oils are then put through a fine-filtered screen to remove any significant solids. Amōriq oils preserve their unique, earthy, fresh scent, beautiful vibrant colors and are never subjected to chemical solvents, high-heat temperatures, or chemical refining. This allows us to curate the purest nutrient dense formulations for your skin’s and hair’s health. All of our carrier oils are also cruelty-free and vegan.

Organic and Wild Harvested (Non-GMO) Essential Oils

Derived from the leaves, needles, stems, flowers, bark, or roots of plants, essential oils have a very small molecular size, which means they can reach below the skin's surface. This is why it is imperative that all our essential oils are 100 percent pure and natural, obtained from organic or wild harvested plants and are ethically and sustainably sourced. Our carefully vetted network of harvesters, farmers, distillers and reputable certified suppliers across the world are verified through an independent third-party to guarantee the highest quality.

We carefully curate our essential oil blends to feed the epidermis with vital nutrients and phytochemicals that complement each formulation's purpose and boost its efficacy. We also take extreme care in the aromatic experience of our blends. Organic and wild harvested essential oils are used in our products at a very low concentration from .2 - 2 percent and are phalate-free, cruelty-free, and vegan.

Plant Derived Fragrance Oils

Our 100 percent natural fragrance oils are produced using extracts and aromatic isolates derived solely from raw botanical ingredients. These 100 percent concentrated, uncut oils are free of diluents, solvents, or alcohols and fully comply with the strictest IFRA (International Fragrance Association) and RIFM (Research Institute for Fragrance Materials) regulations. Plant derived fragrance oils are used in some of our products at a very low concentration, from .2 - 1 percent and are cruelty-free and vegan.

Absolute Oils

Unlike standard absolute oils, Amōriq’s absolutes are organically crafted using a modern process based on the ancient method of enfleurage. This extraction process uses only certified organic, hexane-free solvents such as fixed oils and alcohol  extracted very gently without added heat to capture the delicate aroma of the original plant material. All our absolutes are cruelty-free and vegan.

Organic CO2 Extracts

Under normal atmospheric conditions CO2 is a gas, but when highly compressed it becomes supercritical, neither a gas nor a liquid. Supercritical CO2 is used to extract aromatic oils from plants while preserving the botanical properties. The procedure is fast, gentle, and completely enclosed to prevent the presence of oxygen, thus preserving the botanical nutrients of each plant. When the extraction is complete, the supercritical CO2 returns to its gaseous state at normal air pressure, where it quickly dissipates without generating toxic waste. All of our CO2 extracts are cruelty-free and vegan.

Organic and Wildcrafted Macerated Oils

Many Amōriq formulations use handcrafted infused oils (also known as macerated oils) to nourish and revitalize the skin. Organic carrier oils are Infused with the nutrients of an herb, plant, or flower to bring the oil-soluble healing properties of the plant into a usable form. All of our macerated oils are cruelty-free and vegan.

Alcohol-free, Organic Glycerites

Glycerites are extracts made with glycerine. Amōriq’s in-house glycerites use organic, palm-free vegetable glycerine, organic herbs and flowers, and purified water. Each glycerite macerates for 2-6 weeks before the plant material is removed from the liquid, leaving behind nutrient-rich, water soluble actives. After Amōriq glycerites are double filtered, they are treated with a natural preservative that is ECOCERT, COSMOS, NATRUE, and BDIH compliant. All our glycerites are cruelty-free and vegan.

Organic Hydrosols

Hydrosols are water-based ingredients produced during the steam distillation. During the distillation process, steam causes leaves, buds, roots, or petals to release their water and oil soluble compounds. Oil soluble extracts are used to create an essential oil of that plant while the remaining water makes a nutrient-rich hydrosol. Amōriq carefully selects hydrosols for therapeutic effect and aroma to create the best overall experience. All our organic hydrosols are cruelty-free and vegan.

Organic Extract Powders

All plant extract powders used in Amōriq products have been naturally air-dried, freeze-dried, or sun-dried to preserve phytonutrients and the natural vibrant colors of each plant. We never use forced heat (also known as spray drying), a process that severely damages plant matter, degrading potency and efficacy. This process also changes the color of the extract, sometimes making it necessary to chemically treat the extract with a bleaching agent. All our extract powders are cruelty-free and vegan.
